Whimsical Art Queen Studio Coloring Book

My Whimsical Art Queen Studio Coloring Book is coming along great. I’ve been thinking about what I like to color and now to focus on what will inspire other. I’m thinking special events, holidays, and word catchy ideas.

I’ve finished most of the drawings and now to start some embellishments to give the drawings a unique flair. I want my Whimsical Art Queen Coloring Book to inspire the use of bold colors.

I feel creativity is the key to seeing beyond the page and add the artist touch to my drawings. I am more of a Pop Art artist and that gives me an edge to almost child-like coloring pages. I have researched some of the coloring books and the dark areas of most pages don’t appeal to me. My idea is to give my book art for framing or place on their walls to bring joy. I’m dreaming this would be the ultimate reward.

My Whimsical Art Queen Studio Coloring Book is a work in progress but it’s full-filling my need as an artist. I love color and drawing from that I can visualize the pages. Come back soon and even give me advice, I welcome it.

Inspiration Project Completed

InspirationI am so amazed and happy my Inspiration Art project, 5 canvas painted with acrylic paints is completed!

Another goal, another dream of being a better artist. You have to keep believing you can accomplish any goal you set out to do!

After much research, this was the art I felt spoke to my heart. I love the violin and it had a real meaning to me. I once worked at an elementary school and took violin lessons along with the students. I wasn’t very good even with private lessons. I wish I could be as good as Winslow Davis as he played at Bridgestreet Town Center, Huntsville, Alabama.

Here is my inspiration from the art I found on Light In the Box.

Self Publishing Part 3

Self Publishing Part 3

Are you ready to move on with Self Publishing Part 3? I am here to tell you Rome wasn’t built in a day! You must buckle down and focus on the end result. Make lists with daily points to complete. I would not make that list too long. Many times we all are anxious to get the job done but lose ourselves because it overwhelms us. I set a goal of completing certain areas of book writing on a weekly basis. Don’t let yourself fall into a slump, it’s time to get real.

I Think I Can!

                        Self-Publishing

Focus-Focus-Focus

1-Focus on illustrations – this may be illustrations you draw, select from various friends or the internet, or need the help of a professional. Don’t make the mistake thinking you can do it by yourself. Don’t forget to get permission and a signed contract to use the images in your book. You will also need a bio page of your preferred illustrator.

2-Focus on your book contents page – arrange your chapters with a focus on the reader instead of the author. Chapters require a flow of information to give the reader an easy guide throughout the book.

3-Focus on quotes – quotes from famous people can give your book a sense of ownership and enhance the book tremendously.

4- Focus on costs– a very important part of the book writing process. Talk with your advisor and get a detailed list of items required to complete your project. Don’t just assume the company will cover costs such as, book cover, copyright, etc. Research and research your options.

5- Focus on distribution costs will rise with many attributing factors such as design elements, color illustrations, and selecting a kindle version. I hope by now you did your research and are on your way to having your book cost under control. Yes, things will come up but keep your head focused on costs.

Self Publishing Support

I encourage you to be creativity and get the assistance of your friends and family. Especially let them know you’re in your final days of being a self published writer. Others being behind you and supporting your efforts will give you a rush to help you feel accomplished. I visited a site that inspired me and I think you will be happy with a post of this kind too,  book writing .

I congratulate you as a writer and let’s keep in touch. I hope in some small way I have given you tools to be inspired. Self publishing is a goal that is obtainable. My post, Self Publishing Part 3, contains 5 areas to focus on and complete on your way to become the best writer of year!

Sending inspiration, Doris aka Queen Rose

Self Publishing Part 2

Self Publishing!
Part 2

Six avenues of research in your quest to become a self-published author.

  1. Select your self publishing company. Communicate daily with your advisor.
  2. Enlist the people in your circle of friends to give you feed-back. They will be honest and give you loads of good advice.
  3. Select a person to proof read your chapters. ( You can hire a professional. I chose several of my friends to help.)
  4. Research your title to see if it ranks high with Google. Be creative! It needs to be something catchy.
  5. Your book cover design is most important. Select an image to inspire your audience and make them want to open the book and read.
  6. Keep colored photos to a minimal. Color photos can drive up the cost of production. Black and white are cheaper.

Hints to consider

  • How much are you willing to spend? You can purchase a medium priced package for under $1,000. It will include loads of features and business support to answer all your thousands of questions.
  • I suggest a book calendar to keep you on track. Don’t try to do too many things at once. Build your calendar around topics to be completed. Work with one thing at a time. Start with the most important and work down.

You CAN become a self publish author.

Benefits of Swinging with a Garden Buddy

Gardening is my release of stress and gives me a life-long hobby with exercise benefits. One of my greatest treasures is not my beautiful garden but my garden buddy. I share my love of gardening with her. It gives us both endless conversations when we are in the garden or visiting each other!

Pallet Projects

I am all about the new-found crafts and decor for my home and wanted to get some help using old pallets found at various department stores. I thought I would be able to cut them apart and make just about anything I wanted to. Oh yeah, that was before I tried but soon realized the project was harder than I had time for. I am head strong thinking I can do anything. I had to give in on this diy project. I enlisted the help of my nephew and he built me a love seat, chair, and coffee table for our deck. I got some cushions and made it a little more comfortable. I have enjoyed the pallet furniture for some time. I need to buy some Thompson’s Water Sealer to protect the wood and will do that in the next couple of weeks.

Painted Pallets

After a few weeks and lots of sunshine, I decided to use Behr Deck over paint to give my pallet outdoor settee and chair a coat of turquoise paint. I really like how it turned out and went out and bought a light color, yellow, to give the pallet furniture a chic look.

WALLS OUT OF PALLETS

My next project with the pallet crates I did was to use them on the walls of The Queen Studio. I used my son’s air compressor and his nail gun to shoot them up on the walls. Some of the boards had to be cut with a saw to make them fit but mostly all the boards worked like a puzzle. I took my time and wanted it to be special. I spent about 2 weeks working the layout and even standing on a garden table to complete the walls. My husband hung a pallet shelf that I really like. It holds all kinds of garden items. I added a peg board painted turquoise to match my decor. I laid tile squares of black and white in a checkered design like Mackenzie-Child. I love giving the studio a touch of whimsy look. I hung wind chimes, shelves, and art work to complete the look. I loved how it turned out and it was a fairly simple project. The results are amazing and I would do it again.

BAR OUT OF PALLETS

My third project was using an old door I had left over from the studio project to make a bar. My friend, Kathy, 2nd Chance Furniture on Facebook, found a similar one we both liked. We decided to use old pallets for the sides with a drawer and rollers. Kathy is a genius and I love working with her. She designed the bar to have a working area that could be lifted off for a tray. She cut out a hole for a stainless bowl for ice, fruits, etc. I purchased a small refrigerator for the open area. My husband and I will enjoy having cool drinks when we are gardening or just kicking back on the deck.  I love the bright colors that match my studio so I had painted it have red and turquoise. Love, love, love my pallet projects. I think the touch of whimsy brightens my world.

Queens Thoughts

I even made some shelves out of the pallets. I used my skill saw and cut the pallet apart and it gives you two shelves for storage. It’s amazing the things you can make in a short time. Pallet projects is the way to go. Check out Painted Furniture for ideas working with pallets, it’s awesome.  Pallets are wonderful project supplies. I learned to use a skill saw, nail gun, compressor. I think we all can learn valuable lessons when we forge ahead and try new things. Life is about learning and using what we learn to share with others.

Enjoy life!  Doris aka Queen Rose

Enjoying the peaceful life

Vacations can give you a new lease on life! Being at the beach is a great way to unwind. Especially when you have family members that enjoy your company. I love it when a plan comes together. We love hanging out at the beach, pool, and eating. I guess that’s the normal things but with family makes it even more special.

Peaceful life

Another way to enjoy peace for me is to paint, crafts, gardening and blogging.  It helps me to block out the world around me. Hobbies help you get a sense of self and connect with people who like the things that interest you.

Queen’s Flowers

I like to feel accomplished, successful, and worthy so I create that with my hobbies. Maybe I don’t get that feeling from others, so I give it to myself.

That’s why I love gardening, I love to cut flowers and bring them in to enjoy.

Finding a way to relieve stress will free your soul and bring peace to your life, start today.
